Team Experential Adventure: MBTI

Team building is a key component to a company’s bottom line.   Happy team members are more productive employees.  Happy team members increase employee retention.  The bottom line is, you need to build UP your team to build UP the financial bottom line of the company.

At BP2 Coaching we utilize the MBTI to assist team members in raising their awareness and understanding of themselves and other team members.  Through this awareness, they will learn to value the differences in their fellow team members and learn to use this to the advantage of the team as a whole.  At the end of the workshop each team member will write a personal action plan which will further their development and their team’s development.

At BP2 Coaching we proudly emphasize our slogan of “Where Serious Meets Fun”.    Your team members will have fun in all our sessions, no matter how serious the topic may be.

The MBTI (Myers Briggs Type Indicator) was developed by Katherine Cook-Briggs and her daughter, Isabel Briggs-Myers.  This mother-daughter team took their understanding and learning from the works of Carl Jung and his book “Psychological Types” and developed the MBTI.

Basically, the MBTI utilizes 8 personality type traits, therefore creating 16 possible unique combinations.  The MBTI will assist the individual in defining their unique MBTI four letter  “code”.

The MBTI has four polar extremes as follows:

  • Extrovert to Introvert (E to I)
  • Sensation to Intuition (S to N)
  • Thinking to Feeling (T to F)
  • Judging to Perceiving (J to P)

After completing the MBTI survey and instruction, each team member will end up with a unique four letter code that they feel best fits their personal preference.  This code is derived by selecting one of the polar extremes from the four bullets above.  Every person will have a strong tendency for one or the other, never both.  An example is INFP for those with preferences of Introvert, iNtuition, Feeling and Perceiving.  There are 16 uniquely different profiles utilizing these 8 traits.

The Myers Briggs Type Indicator and teachings are vast.  We offer much more extensive workshops for a more in depth understanding of the MBTI.  However, in the basic Team Building Workshop we will be focusing on the relevance of using the MBTI in team building and improved communications.
